Opening Symposium

The establishment of Keihanna Research Complex (RC) provides a great opportunity to create new businesses in the Keihanna region, through the utilization of its potential resources and the innovation・ecosystem that will emerge.

This symposium will disseminate information about Keihanna RC’s activities to promote research and development based on the integration of different fields of knowledge, human resource development, and commercialization support in an effort to realize a meta-comfort and smart society. It will also provide an opportunity to learn about the origin and development of Israel’s high-profile ecosystems, and to discover new business opportunities and networking, such as global cooperation with accelerators in New York.

Kazuhiro SAKURADA, Ph.D.

[Brief Biography] Completed the master’s program at Osaka University Graduate School of Science in 1988. In the same year, he joined Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd. and engaged in drug development research. During that time, he served as visiting research fellow in the Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University and at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. After that he held various positions including Head of the Research Center Japan of Schering, Germany; Executive Officer of Nihon Schering; Executive Officer and Head of the Research Center of Bayer Yakuhin; and Chief Scientific Officer of iZumi Bio, USA. Since September 2008 he has been working for Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. Since 2011 he has served as a member (and special advisor) of the research strategy committee at RIKEN, and since 2013 he has also acted as a specially appointed fellow for the Center for Research and Development Strategy (CRDS) of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and Project Leader at the Kobe site for MEXT’s Center of Innovation Science and Technology-based Radical Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (COI STREAM).
