Keihanna meets AAST EC ~Exploring common ground with startup ecosystems in Middle East and North Africa~2023/02/28

KGAP+ is an acceleration program that supports the growth of startups in Japan and around the world. As KGAP+ progresses through its eighth batches, it is expanding its function as a hub where innovation support organizations from around the world come together. In 2022, Startup Terrace Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Catalonia Trade & Investment Office – ACCIÓ (Tokyo Office) who is the Catalan Government’s agency from Spain, Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka, and EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation were the latest additions to our network.

And this time, the first joint event with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will be held with the incubation institution of the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST), the AAST Entrepreneurship Center (AAST EC).

In the MENA region, where investments had increased by 10% and reached $3.1 billion (record high) in 2022 despite the decline in investments in startups in emerging countries, AAST EC empowers Arab youth to create a sustainable growing ecosystem through a number of entrepreneurship programs in supply chain as well as other sectors.

This event will explore common ground with the MENA region startup ecosystem through the introduction of AAST EC and Keihanna Science City ecosystem and pitches by startups from both sides.
